We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Health and Social Care Trainer to join our team based in Newcastle-Under-Lyme

The successful candidate will be organised, structured, manage their workload effectively and be able to work on their own initiative. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral are required and the ability to demonstrate empathy when communicating with care workers, adapting your communication and training style depending on the circumstances. It is essential you are motivated and driven and that you thrive in a learner/trainer environment.

As our Trainer, you will deliver mandatory Health and Social Care modules for in-house staff and commercial courses, these include:

  • Basic Food Hygiene.
  • Health & Safety; COSHH.
  • Mental Capacity/DOLs; Dementia.
  • Moving and Handling (Theory & Practical),
  • First Aid/BLS.
  • Medication Administration
  • Safeguarding
  • Bespoke modules when requested.

You will be expected to build on our current training modules and help nurture and form long term relationships with new and existing staff as you will be responsible for their continuing professional development and training.

This role is viewed by the management team as one of the most important in the company as the trainer is an extension of our core values and it is the trainer’s responsibility to ensure that our high standards and commitment to quality is embedded in every member of staff they develop.

This role would best suit an experienced Carer who has moved in to training and tutoring within the last couple of years. You will ideally have at least 2 years’ experience in Health and Social Care training as well as previous care experience and a knack for building rapports with new people.

This is a very exciting opportunity for the right person, and your annual salary would be based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications in relevant training skills and an up to date certificate in train the trainer would be desirable.

Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience

Working hours: Mon – Fri 9-5

Advocacy and Dementia Project Coordinator

Are you a Health & Social Care professional who strives to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable people? We are seeking a caring, patient and driven individual to act as a Dementia Advocate as part of a community-based project in North Staffordshire.

Role:

As an Advocacy and Dementia Project Coordinator, you will be developing an advocacy project across the local area that will meet the needs of older people who are living with dementia. Your duties will mainly include:

  • Provide direct advocacy support to service users
  • Operate a referral system which will allocate cases as appropriate
  • Monitor and report on the impact and effectiveness of the project
  • Create effective links with relevant professionals across the local area
  • Attend regular internal and external meetings

Requirements:

To be successful for the post of Advocacy and Dementia Project Coordinator, you will have ideally have previously worked in a similar position or meet the below requirements:

  • Experience of managing own caseload within health and social care services
  • Practical and professional experience of people with dementia
  • Knowledge of social welfare and mental health legislations
  • Understanding of the principals of advocacy
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to confidently negotiate sensitive circumstances
  • Must be a driver with access to your own vehicle

Although this is initially a temporary position until June 2020, there is potential that this will be extended to a permanent contract for the right person. You will also receive:
